putting on the Training Halter

The Natural Horse Training Halter is put on in the normal way: First secure him by putting the poll strap around his kneck and then putting his nose in the nose band before securing the poll strap.

Instructions As usual, approach the horse at the left shoulder and turn to face the same way as he does. Holding the halter in your left hand, with the tie loop to the left side, show it to the horse. If its new let him smell it.

Reach over his neck with your right hand & pull the (double stranded) poll rope over the poll.

Place the (double stranded) noseband over the nose then pull up the tie loop and down on the poll rope until the noseband is positioned above the soft tissues of the nose and below the cheekbone.

Pass the poll rope through the tie loop and tie it around the loop, as illustrated. Then, however tight the knot, pushing the loop up the poll rope will always release it. You may find it useful to place the halter on the back of a chair and practice tying this knot as its one of those seemingly simple things that is hard to get just right!

When properly fitted the throat lash is a close fit whereas the noseband remains loose.
