The Natural
Horse Head Collar
I have quite a distance to walk the horse out to the field
at the moment. The summer grazing is furthest away from the yard to make
winter turnout less arduous! However with this arrangement comes a problem....walking
the horses up to the field can become rather like the charge of the light
brigade!! I really don't relish being dragged out to the field each day.
On
occasion I'll use a bridle but I find that trying to remove one in the
field while the horses are dancing about has its own set of problems!!
Enter the Natural Horse Headcollar.... I felt the instructions were rather
vague and could have done with some photos to show how it should look
when fitted correctly. However that is my only criticism! Simple to put
on and take off (once you know how!), washes easily, fits a wide range
of sizes/types and it works!!
I soon found my horses walking quietly alongside me, even when the others
were calling to them. I also found it useful for catching horses that
disappear at the sight of a headcollar and know when it behind your back
as it fits neatly into even a small pocket.
It has also proved invaluable for one horse that I have who stops half
way back to the yard if you try to take him by himself and once he's stopped
he will not move until another horse comes with him or he gets to go back
to the field. I found that with the NATURAL HORSE HEADCOLLAR I only had
to maintain a gentle constant pressure on the rope and after a short time
he would decide to walk forwards again. After just a week of using the
headcollar daily he no longer stops!
It also comes with replaceable, plastic 'loops' that allow a horse to
be safely tied up whilst still wearing the halter this on its own gets
a huge thumbs up.
I shall be getting some more and every yard should have one.
